Grenada, March 7, Day 7

We had a lazy day today. The weather was beautiful although a bit breezy, and we had a nice breakfast and then arrived at the pool around 11 whereupon I enjoyed probably my last margherita for the trip.

Lunch was French cuisine, but I just had a salad which was very good. After lunch we stayed at the pool until 2 pm and then Lisa and I went to a soap making lesson. It was interesting watching how soap was made…with lye powder, coconut oil, water, and essential oils. She also added some salt and sugar. The person doing the demo couldn’t understand why the soap wasn’t thickening while she did the immersion blender. She followed the recipe, but it didn’t thicken. I have the recipe to make soap now, so maybe I’ll try it at home. I googled the recipe and it seems it was the same as she was using so I don’t know why it didn’t thicken. Anyway..be prepared to get soap at Christmas for presents as I try my luck at soap making. 😂🌲🎅

Lisa, John, Allan, and I met up at Kimonos for dinner. Kimonos is like Benihana. The chef put on a show and the food was very good.

After dinner we went to the living room and heard a singer and then Allan and I stayed on for karaoke…and yes, I sang Where the Boys Are. The audience was great and they really made me feel special. I started by telling them I just had had two drambuies (they gave a rousing applause at that) and then I told them I was 75 , so be kind. (More applause.) I then told them they were all so young, but I was taking them back to the 1950’s with Connie Francis.

I should have looked at the lyrics on the screen as the song was much faster than I was used to… but I persevered and everyone clapped the whole way through. (Maybe they wanted me off the stage as fast as possible. 😂😂). They applauded so loudly at the end with whistling and high fives when I finished and one lady came over and hugged me and said I was wonderful. (I’ll be here all week folks!!!😂😂😂)

And then… It was to bed!

Going off to dinner. I have on my elephant pants from Thailand.

The traditional “onion volcano”!

Heart of rice.

Warming up the audience before singing Where the Boys Are.

The big finale.
